Productive road trip, thus far

The Laredo Bucks are one of five teams to have successfully won their first two games of the season. And for the Bucks, starting on the road, this is huge.

Rocky Mountain, Texas, Youngstown, and Arizona are the other four boasting a 4 point lead.

Opening day, Friday, had the Bucks shower 8 goals on the Scorpions. Bucks' speed advantage was clearly evident, not to mention the Bucks' defense. Goalie Dustin Traylen was solid in net. The Scorpions found themselves out hustled by Laredo, able to score only twice.

>>>>>>>>> G -- A
Korchinski --- 2 -- 2
Hiebert ------ 2 -- 1
McSween -----2 -- 1
Penner ------ 1 -- 1
Carnegie ----- 1 -- 1
Dube ------------3
Walker -----------2
Bes, Elliott, Rivet, & Agarunov scored 1 assist each

Saturday was a complete turnaround. After the first 20 minutes of play, the Bucks found themselves down 3 goals to New Mexico.

Traylen again controlled the net for the Bucks, but it was a breakdown in defense that allowed the Scorpions to capitalize.

The second period had Laredo on a mission to dominate, and indeed they did. Hiebert scored 2 of 3 goals for the period, and Simoes scored the third. Bes and Iggy assisted twice.

Score after two periods was New Mexico 4 - Laredo 3

Rivet tied the game, assisted by Bes & Dube in the third, forcing overtime.

Bes scored at 2:58 of overtime to win the game and surpass his previously tied record with Chris Grenville for most goals scored for the Laredo Bucks franchise.

Warm hugs to Rivet for tieing the game and forcing overtime, and congratulations to Jeff Bes for winning the game and setting a new record.

Tuesday morning Oct. 23, the Bucks will face the Amarillo Gorillas in Amarillo for the 3rd and final match of this 3 game road trip. Game time is 11:00 A.M.
