Back on track - 4 in a row
After a major upset loss in Odessa on Dec. 20 by a score of 6-0, the Laredo Bucks won 2 consecutive games at home the following two nights, against the Austin Ice Bats, and then, after Christmas, traveled to Prescott Valley, Arizona and commandeered another 2 wins, the second by shootout, with Rane Carnegie scoring the deciding goal.
It was a match-up of the top two division leaders of the Southern Conference. The Sundogs lead the Southwest division with 40 points, while the Bucks lead the Southeast with 46. In an ultimate test of strength, our boys prevailed.
Pure talent and determination ruled in Arizona. Both teams were energized and driven to not let each other win. A true Southern showdown ---
Here are some photos from the last two home games against the Austin Ice Bats. Tomorrow, the last game of 2007 will be played at the LEC against the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees with a traditional New Year's Eve celebration to follow after the game.
I am looking forward to seeing their New Year's jerseys, which will be auctioned off after the game. If the fabulous Christmas jerseys were any indication of future specialty jerseys, then tomorrow night's jerseys will no doubt be a hit. Their third jersey is equally fantastic.

Are you like me?
It's only Tuesday, and I'm already stressed out.
My boss sends me an e-mail today and asks me, "You forwarded this case file two months after you were supposed to. Can you tell me why is that?"
Ooops! Busted! So what did I answer, you ask? The truth: I said it was irresponsible disregard on my part and that I had no valid excuse to support it. Her response? Thank you!
Knowing her, I can safely assume that she is relieved that I was brutally honest and not trying to make up stuff such as how overwhelmed I am with work, so many chores and duties to tackle at the same time, covering shifts for others who are out on sick leave, and trying to meet weekly deadlines. I knew that I didn't have to reiterate all that to her, because she already knows that. Besides, one honest answer puts finality on the story. What could she say? Please describe your carelessness?
I think she was relieved that I was sincere and that she would gladly convey my response to the finger pointer in the office. What? You thought my boss had stumbled upon this by herself? Please.....there's always someone pointing the finger, scoring brownie points so she can ask for time off during the holidays. Yep, I knew you knew someone like that.

Confidence restored
After a tough loss to the Arizona Sundogs at home on Sunday afternoon, the Laredo Bucks bounced back and tamed the Austin Ice Bats 4 to 1 on Weds. Dec. 12.
The most devastating thing that occurred during this game is that Steve Weidlich broke his hand. This will keep him on I.R. for at least six weeks. He'd been gone at the beginning of the season due to another hand injury. Barely back and having played in only eleven games, he's out again. He's huge on defense and will be greatly missed. We wish him a speedy recovery.
A road trip to Corpus Christi this Friday, had the Bucks stomping on the Rayz 5 to 2. Winning these last two games meant that the boys have been working hard at overcoming the slump they found themselves in losing 4 of the last seven games, two of them against the Rayz.
The Bucks rested yesterday and today and will again take on the Jackalopes in Odessa this Thursday, before coming home and facing a double header against the Ice Bats on Friday and Saturday.
Here are pics from the last two home games with the Sundogs and Ice Bats.

Why do I post this pose so much? Because I love it! Just look at the intensity in Elliott and Traylen.
