O.K. -- after a scoreless first period on Friday, in Hidalgo, the boys started the second period with two goals giving the impression that they had unleashed the fury. It was short lived, for the Killer Bees would respond with 3 consecutive goals making the score 3 to 2, and making it the final tally for the game. The 6 game win streak came to an end.
Kevin Beech started in net for the Bucks, but was replaced by Dustin Traylen after the 3 goals were scored on him. Come on, it was not entirely his fault. Our defense somewhat let him down. Hey, it happens. One thing that other teams always capitalize on, is by scoring on the Bucks immediately at face off -- catching them vulnerable and off guard. It never fails.
Dustin Traylen replaced Beech in net, but did not stay long due to getting injured after a save. They confirm that it is not serious, but nonetheless, leaves us with one available goalie -- Beech. Incidentally, when Traylen left the ice limping, Beech was brought back in to finish the game. It was goalie flip flop night for the Bucks.
Steve Simoes did not play in this game, but was on the radio with Benway adding to the color commentary. He's good.......real good. I sent him a text message telling him so. He gave us a whole new perspective from a player's point of view. Described the opponent players' styles and weaknesses. Very refreshing to hear him. He definitely has a future in media.
And on the topic of Simoes.......this afternoon will be a huge test of guts for our boys @ 4 PM in a re-match of last season's President's Cup Finals between the Colorado Eagles and the Bucks. I hope Simoes is playing. When he's on the ice, the enemy tries to stay clear of him. I call him "The Swatter" because anyone he bangs against the boards gets creamed, literally..... I'm gonna have to do a video on Simoes' hits to pay homage to him. That would be nice.
I will bring you photos of today's game later in the week. Once the work week starts, there's not much energy left to work on editing photos. I know, I know......it's the old age....not to mention the senior moments. ::sigh::
